Henning Family

Edmund Biddulph Henning seems to have been one of those larger than life characters.

He sailed from England in 1853 as a free settler – farmer – pastoralist – business man. According to the Illawarra Family History Group’s Illawarra Pioneers Pre 1920 he lived in Appin at Elladale in 1853, at the Cataract Bulli Mountain in 1855, Exmoor Station – Bowen District Queensland in 1862, Ermington Park, a mansion on the Parramatta River,  in Ryde in 1870 and then in Hunters Hill.

His sister Rachel Henning accompanied him before her marriage and wrote a series of letters, including of his time on Bulli Mountain in the 1850’s and which have been published.
